YOU is a meditation on the relationship between a man and the world. By placing the performer in a glass box, Lidia separates them both from their immediate environment and from the elusive principles that determine the relationship between modern humans and society. The stillness of the performer is a protest against the speed of modern life, which impedes the ability to contemplate. The artist hopes that by taking a moment to watch the human figure—presented as a museum object in complete stillness—the viewer will enter a unique emotional state that may help prevent self-destruction. The performance involves the artist herself as well as other performers.
