Inside Out
On May 23, the first pop-up exhibition of the Serene Gallery, "Inside Out" by Lidia Russkova-Hasaya, opened at the Wynwood Hotel in St. Petersburg. For the Serene Gallery, this is an important project in terms of introducing itself to the St. Petersburg audience. Lidia was selected as an artist who works with a rare medium on the Russian art scene—neon.
For Wynwood, the artist offered her "Messages with Friends" series and created neon messages that we encounter daily, but at some point, such everyday phrases hit straight to the heart and answer essential questions. The idiomatic expression "Inside Out" is reflected by objects that we usually see outside, placed inside the hotel space. The artist actively works with the external environment, integrating her installations into it. In the hotel's space, the spirit of the city was revealed: neon inscriptions and sky collages, each composed of over 20 images of cloudy skies, layered with a transparent veil.
